Romance by the glass...

First tasting resulted in Best Night Ever for The Drinkery

Moonlight Meadery had it's first tasting at The Drinkery in Londonderry NH on July 31, 2010

This was a great way to conclude our first month of sales.  The event started promptly at 6:00PM with my one of my first friends (way back from Kindergarden) showing up to taste my meads, and purchasing two bottles.  It was great to talk with Ken and pour him the first samples,  I don't think I have seen Ken in at least 16 years (last high school reunion).

Invitation to our first public tasting of meads

We are happy to announce that tomorrow, 7/31/10 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, The Drinkery will be hosting our first public tastings.

Both stores are looking to place more orders as soon as we have mead ready it will be hitting the streets.

Kisses in stores tomorrow night

What's better on a hot summer night than Kisses?

Kisses, is our first limited release (and for us to say limited this means just a tiny bit will be available).  Berts Better Beers (Hookset NH), and The Drinkery (Londonderry NH) have bought up the entire release.

About the mead, has a light pink hue, that's crystal clear.  The aroma is full of strawberry notes followed by the floral honey.  The flavor is a delicate blance of strawberries and honey, that is light in body and semi-sweet.

Desire, our first batch, is released!

Desire will be delivered to Berts Better Beers this evening (7/7/2010)!

This is quite an amazing time for us here at Moonlight Meadery, seeing a dream come true!  Desire is our first release, available in limited quantities (only 48 bottles of batch #1 being released.  This is the mead that won Best of Show at the 2009 New England Regional Homebrew competition, which contained over 350 entries.  Judges describe this melomel as being sweet with a wonderful complexity from fruit, thats supported by the honey in the fi

Desire Label

Labels are being printed, mead should be hitting limited stores, in the next week or so.

Expect a few typos on the label... which will make them collectors items I am sure.

A blind review of "Coffee In Bed" (the homebrewed version) by Jeffrey Swearengin

Jeff is someone I have great respect for, he makes incredible meads, it was a pleasure to see that he was assigned to judge my mead at this years National Homebrew Competition.

Used with out Jeff's permission.

Carbonation level - still, Sweetness - Sweet, Strength - Sack

Aroma: 8/10

Initial spiciness (e.g. Star Anise, Licorice) fades quickly behind the arabica (Sumatra) coffee with some subtle vanilla which adds complexity.  Moderate - Strong impression from wildflower honey.  Alcohol noted.

Appearance: 5/6

14 year old Cyser

Last night I was amazed to see my great friend Kurt Demmer had a bottle of cyser (with original label), that I had made back in 1996.

I had only just started my journey into mead making back then, maybe having made several batches of mead.
